As a lifelong natural athlete, you’ve built a tremendous physique within a sport where performance and physique-enhancing drugs are prevalent. Why did you remain a natural athlete and do you see yourself and the sport of natural body building as a role model/lifestyle model for young aspiring athletes:
Well it had something to do with a guy called Jason Rickaby whose advice I stuck with way back when I first started training, he’s kept me on the straight and narrow ever since.
I have this vision that one day I will reach a level on stage during my posing routine where my physique is at its best and I m in a world of my own and feel my journey is over, to me reaching that moment is the hardest thing for any bodybuilder, never mind all this rubbish about condition.
To me also I live for being involved with great things and great people, there are some diamonds in the natural scene, Fivos, Peter Chown, Dean Garratt, Ian Stocks, Ben France, although there are some idiots too, its amazing to be doing the same sport as these guys yet when you see them are more interested in you than themselves. Every now and then the sport reminds you why you stayed natural, this year it was when Ian Stocks cried winning the NPA lightweight title I was so happy for one of my mates.
For any young athletes reading you only need to spend a short time around some of these guys to realise you can get where you want to be and to feel overwhelmingly inspired, it’s done wonders for my life, let it do the same to yours.
Why you chose PhD Nutrition to officially endorse:
Knowing the professional set up and no nonsense approach to the industry I know I could not be in better hands, the future is bright, the future is PhD!
Future aims and objectives within your chosen sport:
As above but would like to compete at the worlds maybe.
Thanks very much Robb, anyone you’d like to thank for their help and guidance throughout the years, please do so:
I love my family as much as the next man maybe more, most is owed to them I've just had to do the easy stuff.
There is also a guy called Jason Rickaby who has helped and guided me in natural bodybuilding. When I started training we met and from then on it’s been magic ever since, his door is always open and his motivation drives me every day. He is and will always be a great friend.
Day 1 – chest, arms.
Day 2 – legs.
Day 3 – back, delts.
Day 4 – rest

I know its been a while but so much has been going on.
right where to start, well last week began training and eating better in preperation for the Mens Health front cover model competition, my entry is going in next week so i will keep updating my blog if successful.
hav to say im well happy for PhD and Fivos having an amazing time at the senai show in London the other week. What an advert for healthy and happy living and more important possessing a charisma that everyone is drawn to, as I heard people couldnt get enough of Fivos nevermind ronnie coleman ha ha !
For a while ive been off the boil with training etc but after spending a few sessions of eating and going out with J its amazing how people who are close to you can change your goals and the way you think about things in general. Now plans hav been made for the short term future that hav got me simply buzzing every time I think about training etc.
sometimes its better to back off sometimes and things hav a way of sorting themselves out i guess.
hope u all r doing good take it easy

what a weekend i had last week in Brighton, stayin with legendary DJ Graham Gold who is a top top geeza. I ll soon be getting some of his work on CD which will hopefully be the music used next time I compete, i cant wait.
trianing going well at mo..
mon - back 3 to 4 movements
tues - delts and tris 3 each
thurs - legs 3 each
fri - chest and bi s 3 each
eating about 300 carb 200 protein 30 fats 5 litres water and multivitamins daily
I find alternating between training a bodypart once per week with lots of heavy sets and reps with higher frequency training eg 3 days on 1 off the best way to go for me.
aside from the gym plans are to go snow boarding soon and booking up for Canada with the lads next year, amazin.
ok well im off for cup of tea and cakes spk soon.

I know its a bit late but as i mentioned in my last blog ive got to tell u about snowboarding in scotland last week. We all have things in life we think about trying but never get round to it , well this was one thing ive wanted to do for ages.
Im lucky with my job as i have been posted to a station with a watch that has a few very active outdoor type people on it, a total bonus for getting together for trips away. The guys planned it over xmas and off we went for two days to Avimore and the Caringormes, it was absolutely stunning at the top of the mountain.
Trying to even stand up on a snowborad for the first time was hard and moving was just impossible but after about 20 mins i was flying and the feeling when your going over good snow was amazing, not so the second day as we had 30 mph winds at minus 20 ha ha.
The whole trip travelling up in my mates van, 6 of us, the going out in town and all the laughs etc makes me think why havent i been doing this years ago.
I plan to go away at least twice a year to snowboard now, so i guess if theres something your thinking about just make plans and do it, life really is too short.
keep an eye out for the pics(some classics)next week. spk soon

So it begins !
A massive hello to everyone reading and involved with PhD. Just like to say hope all is well with you all and I look forward to meetin up sometime soon.
Now then, what do I write about, well there are much more knowledgeable athletes to give advice on training etc on the site so for those interested I aim to instead share my experiences outside the gym and also keep u informed of future plans.
Just like to explain my motivation behind the things I do and choices ive made. after reading my profile u may see I have competed in bodybuilding a few times well the main reason I m telling you about things in my life is kind of the same reason I do bodybuilding/competing etc, Im not realiy interested in winning any shows to me its about inspiring people and hopefully if you follow my story that will be the case.
Again for those interested I dont mind sharing with you my work life with the Fire Service, I m open to talk about anything really in my section and feel free anyone to request topics, ask advice or give feedback anytime.
First thing Id like to mention is the PhD nite out in Newcastle after the open day at Powerhouse, as u may c from the pics it was a top nite and shame big fiv or stocksi wasnt there. Amazin to be sitting around a table with people u have so much in common with and agree on(even though Kevin Levrone should hav beat Dorian he he Deano).
Well ive made my introduction and started the journey (more to come on that) look out next time for my snowboarding trip to Scotland last week with the boys from work, absolutely unreal.
spk soon
Pharma-Gain™: My metabolism is like lightening, I find it hard to gain weight and hard to maintain weight with my training style. I use 2 servings of Pharma-Gain™ daily, this gives me 80 grams of carbs and 80 grams of quality blended protein on top of my meals
Formula-X™: Best thing I’ve used for mass-gaining. I use all 3 caps 30 mins prior to training, along with:
Wired™: This product kicks arse. I use the Wired™ before every leg and back session…My squat has gone ballistic since, I’m shifting 4 plates for singles now at a body weight of 150lbs
Battery +/-3: I’m a big carb-drinker. Battery+/-3 supplies me with electrolytes also, which are vital for me and in my job as a firefighter, you can imagine I sweat quite a bit! I use 3 scoops after every session and sometimes more during the day or before heading out on a job
